Summer Reading Program –

                                   

BE CREATIVE at the Library

 

   Stop by the library and sign up for the FREE summer reading program that’s right for you!  Complete the form and turn it back in for prizes including: a free coupon for McDonalds, a free admission ticket for the Strasburg Railroad, a free admission ticket to Maze Quest, a free bowling pass, a free coupon for Isaac’s Deli, a free admission pass to Lancaster Ice Rink, a free coupon for Auntie Anne’s and more!!

Lost in the Library Mondays Look for different arts and crafts supplies lost in the library!  Be the first to find it, win a prize! Library has details.  Mondays: June 1-August 3 (Ages 5-12)

Family Movie Nights Dance in with the family for some FREE popcorn, a FREE movie and quality time together!

Summer Reading Kick Off with The PRINCESS of Dutch Wonderland!  Hear ye, hear ye, all young princes and princesses!  Sign up for summer reading and join us for stories, crafts and games. Costumes welcome! Special surprise guest Otto the Dog storybook costume character too! Saturday, June 6 at 10:30 am (All ages)

Thursday Gaming Nights Play video games on a HUGE screen, make new friends.  Library supplies an X-box 360 and Wii, plus Rock Band, Wii Sports and Mario Kart.  Play our games or bring your own - must be rated “E” if kids 13 or younger are present.  Every Third Thursday: June 18, July 16 and August 20 from 4:00 - 8:00 pm (Ages 7 & Up)

Books to Movies Club We’ll read Katherine Patterson’s Bridge to Terabithia, a book about how drawing can open the

imagination. Doodling activities, crafts and snacks! We’ll keep a journal of our thoughts and activities along the way. Note: this program will help kids practice their writing and analyzing skills. The last day we’ll watch the movie!

Fridays: June 19 - July 31 (No July 3) at 2:00 pm (Gr. 3-7)

Kids Musical Experience ~ Peter Moses  has been writing kids’ music since 1990, with a repertoire of sing-alongs, pop-rock, and folk music designed especially for children!  He accompanies himself on guitar, keyboards, and harmonica.  A fun and

upbeat concert! Wednesday, July 1 at 10:30 am (All ages)

 

A World of Fun: Creativity Unplugged! Kids and Cultures shows how kids all over the world have fun – without electricity!  Learn a dance from Ghana, a game from India, hear a folktale from Chile, discover a toy from Iraq and more!

Animal Art Forms ~ Jesse Rothacker of Forgotten Friend Reptile Sanctuary Features live reptiles and audience

participation. Learn how reptiles have turned their own personal energy conservation into an art form by managing to hunt/communicate/exist with only 10% of the energy that mammals use. Thursday, July 9 at 6:30 pm (Family)

 

 

Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince Movie Release Party Apparate to the library for some Harry Potter fun!  Play games, answer Potter Trivia and eat wizzarding world snacks!  Monday, July 13 at 6:30 pm (Ages 6 & up, Parents too!)

What can you make with Duct Tape? Wallets, belts, bags and clothes learn how to make almost anything out of tape. Follow some patterns or try your own creations! Saturday, July 25 at 2:00 pm (Teen)

 

Dave Rojahn ~ Create Your Own Kind of Magic A participatory magic show full of surprise will have you laughing with the talent of Rocky the mind-reading raccoon! Plus, learn a magic trick and trick the magician!
